    Gabi's Bio:
I love being considered a “city girl” although St. Paul seems small to me sometimes. I chose to come to Duluth for aesthetic reasons and the sense of community that Scholastica embodies. Being in three clubs, a student senator, full credit load, and two part time jobs, I keep myself very busy. I wouldn't trade it for anything! We need to take advantage of the prime time in our life. These four years go by faster than high school, and I’m just trying to enjoy every moment of it!

Weekend in Saint Paul

This past weekend I spent it at home in Saint Paul. It always feels good going back to where I’m from. I had an EXCELLENT weekend! My friend Meghan and I started the night out with CHIPOTLE… YUMMMMM!!!  I spent the night at Meghan’s dad’s house in Hudson, because her dad and step mom are vacationing in Alaska, so she had to house sit. I LOVE their house. It is HUGE and I love going over there to watch stuff on the big screen and of course, hot tub it up. There were a bunch of frogs occupying the cover of the hot tub so Meghan had to shoo them off 😛 Goofy frogs…

The next morning we got going pretty early, because unfortunately, Meghan got called into work last minute. So we were out the door a little after 9. My friend Christina lives (and goes to school) in River Falls, so it was perfect because River Falls is on my way back to Saint Paul. I know it sounds like I wasn’t in Saint Paul, but I just had a little bit of a pit stop in Wisconsin! We lounged around all morning and caught up with each other and talked about current events. We ordered Pizza Hut for lunch. It was alright…. I’m a Pizza Luce, Punch, Papa John’s type of person… Then we went to the Coldstone in Hudson (I CAN’T STAY AWAY!!). The thing I love about the one in Hudson is that they have a lot more flavors than the ones in Duluth. I had dark chocolate and red velvet ice cream mixed together with white chocolate chips. Delicious.

I finally headed back to Saint Paul. My dad’s girlfriend Jenny had her brother Peter in town from D.C. We lounged around in the A/C waiting for my dad to come home. He manages a few properties, so he was mowing the lawn in the gross weather. I was so happy to be in A/C since I hardly am while here in Duluth. We went for an early dinner at a restaurant by my house called Bennett’s. I only ate a little bit, because I was headed over for another sleep over at my friend Alyce’s house. It was great to spend some time with my dad. I hadn’t seen him in SIX weeks! Us seeing each other was definitely long OVERDUE! We even took a picture of how pale I am in contrast to how freakin’ tan he is!

After a small dinner, I headed over to Alyce’s house. We went to elementary school together and have still stayed in contact since then. Sophomore year I even visited her in Grinnell, IA (where she goes to school) over my Spring Break. This semester she was in Denmark, so I visited her other friends in Grinnell which was really fun! I visited with her a little bit the last time I was home, but it was great spending a whole night with her. We had Lee Ann Chinn and bought some junk food from Target. We watched the movie “Drive” with Ryan Gosling *drool* and a few episodes of Skins (the British version, obviously). We’re not as young as we used to be, so staying up until 12:30 was good enough for us.

Sunday morning I went to brunch with my dad, his girlfriend, and my friend Cece that I went to school K-12 with. We went to a bar by our house. Who would have thought that a bar would have a decent brunch?! Although we were in a food coma, Cece and I headed to Tea Garden which is my favorite place to go in Saint Paul. I hadn’t had it yet that weekend, and I needed some before heading back to Duluth! After that I went to a family get together in Vadnais Heights. It initially started as a housewarming party, because Jeff just bought a new house… but it was disguised as that and was actually a surprise 40th wedding anniversary party for my great aunt and uncle. It was really great seeing extended family! Even some people I hadn’t seen for over two years. Overall it was a great weekend home 🙂
