    Emily's Bio:
I am a senior majoring in communication and minoring in photography. The College of St. Scholastica has been a great place for me to be throughout my college journey. I am fascinated by the world and am currently studying abroad at Regent's University London in England. I live for the little things and the adventures I stumble upon everyday. In my free time I enjoy practicing yoga, listening to and writing music, taking pictures, and exploring.

Wrapping My Independent Study

Today, I wrapped up my Independent Study in Photography. I took some much needed time to reflect and wrote a two-and-half-page essay explaining what I learned from my experience. I am turning this in to my professor in order to help him understand what I have gained from my studies in portrait and concert photography. There is a sense of balance between the photographer and the subject that must always be found in order to have a successful session. One of my greatest challenges in portrait photography is helping my subjects feel comfortable and natural in front of the camera. My goal as a photographer, in regards to portrait and people photography, is to represent a sense of their true character in the image. That is something I think I have improved on throughout the summer. Shooting numerous sessions with friends and beyond has forced me to grow as a photographer, and I have found the confidence to continue learning on my own and in the future. I am forever thankful for my photography education.
