    Emily's Bio:
I am a senior majoring in communication and minoring in photography. The College of St. Scholastica has been a great place for me to be throughout my college journey. I am fascinated by the world and am currently studying abroad at Regent's University London in England. I live for the little things and the adventures I stumble upon everyday. In my free time I enjoy practicing yoga, listening to and writing music, taking pictures, and exploring.

World Cinema Term Paper

This week and the next are filled with due dates for final projects, papers, and exams. Yesterday, I used my time to focus on my final work for my Digital Photography class. Today, I am focusing on my term paper for my World Cinema class.

Despite the somewhat daunting paper length minimum of 8-10 pages, the assignment has been quite interesting and enjoyable.  Throughout the semester, we have been studying films with origins in several different world film industries. It has been an eye-opening and intriguing experience. I have learned a lot about film, the expression within them and effort behind them.

Our assignment was to choose a film or director from a specific film industry and study them further through a lens regarding the relation between stylistic choices of the film itself and cultural or social aspects of the country. I chose to study the film The Year My Parents Went On Vacation, which is representative of the Brazilian film industry.

My work place for the evening has been my apartment, among the comfort of tea and music to keep me calm through the busy work. There is much more to come in the next several days leading up to and through finals, but I am trying my best to take one day and one task at a time.
