Rhinoceros
My Friday night consisted of a theatre outing to the Dudley Experimental Theatre at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. My friend, Shayna, and I went to see Rhinoceros, a show written by Romanian-French playwright Eugène Ionesco in 1959.
Rhinoceros was one of the most interesting and captivating theatre experiences I have ever had. I enjoyed the moving performances by the actors, the unique set, lighting, and sound, the comedic yet dark energy, and the portrayal of the overall messages within the script. The show explores themes of conformity, racism, ideology, morality, culture and more as the citizens of the town began turning into rhinoceroses one by one.
