    Courtney's Bio:
    I'm an Elementary Education major at CSS. I also plan to minor in Spanish. Having done PSEO, I came to CSS with more than 60 credits. I'm part of Volunteers Involved Through Action (VITA), Students Today Leaders Forever (STLF), and other clubs! Dance has been part of my life for 10 years, and now I'm trying to fit it into my schedule again. I love spending time watching Supernatural and Once Upon a Time, and reading Harry Potter and other great books. I live in a suite with 3 other girls, and we are always finding something fun to do around campus!

Re-assessing Workloads

As I’ve written in the blog before, I took the responsibility of teaching Reading the very first day of student teaching and then picked up Math the following week. The first week was short, so I actually only had 3 days of observing math before I took over. Since then, I’ve realized maybe I bit off more than I could chew. Some days I do definitely feel overwhelmed trying to plan lessons. In first grade, most of the day is spent on Reading and Math. I ended up being responsible right away for the most important activites, which totaled up to being 3 hours of nonstop active instruction/classroom management! After being very confused with a math lesson I felt overwhelmed with, I talk to my CT and we decided that I will teach math every other day and then gradually pick it up every day again. I’m really thankful my cooperating teacher suggested that, because I think I did need a much more gradual mountain of learning.
