    Courtney's Bio:
I'm an Elementary Education major at CSS. I also plan to minor in Spanish. Having done PSEO, I came to CSS with more than 60 credits. I'm part of Volunteers Involved Through Action (VITA), Students Today Leaders Forever (STLF), and other clubs! Dance has been part of my life for 10 years, and now I'm trying to fit it into my schedule again. I love spending time watching Supernatural and Once Upon a Time, and reading Harry Potter and other great books. I live in a suite with 3 other girls, and we are always finding something fun to do around campus!

Meeting my Cooperating Teacher

Today early before CSO began I had a meeting with my Cooperating Teacher for this upcoming year at Lowell Elementary School. Cooperating teachers are the teachers that welcome you into their classroom to observe and teach lessons. I’ve been dying to get started in the classroom, as well as build a relationship with my C.T. When Elementary Ed. majors are doing field experience, we usually are thrown into the classroom during the middle of the day, where a teacher doesn’t have much free time to chat. They’ve got work to do instead! It ends up really limiting one-to-one interaction with your C.T., especially because you’re only there 2-3 hours a week. So, I made a point to meet with my C.T. before school even started! We met in her classroom for about an hour and I think we will get along great. I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things from the parents of children she’s taught before, including my education professor! I got to know her a little bit and I also told her a bit of my background. After a while, I helped her set up a little bit by cutting out laminated name plates. I will be working with her starting next Wednesday and I am so nervous but excited!
