    Courtney's Bio:
I'm an Elementary Education major at CSS. I also plan to minor in Spanish. Having done PSEO, I came to CSS with more than 60 credits. I'm part of Volunteers Involved Through Action (VITA), Students Today Leaders Forever (STLF), and other clubs! Dance has been part of my life for 10 years, and now I'm trying to fit it into my schedule again. I love spending time watching Supernatural and Once Upon a Time, and reading Harry Potter and other great books. I live in a suite with 3 other girls, and we are always finding something fun to do around campus!

It’s Summer, Why is Everyone Working?

A real conversation between my roommate and I as we caught up:

“Did I tell you I have an internship?”

“I thought you weren’t doing it anymore because you’re transferring?”

“Well it was offered to me and it’s paid so I took it.”

“But you’re also doing the summer RA job and you’re doing the office assistant job?”

“Yes.”
“Why???”

“Ah I don’t know I thought it’d be good!”

This conversation followed up hours later with my roommate also talking about her job as an online Spanish tutor. That means she has FOUR summer jobs. The other girl she’s staying with the summer works 8-4:30 Monday-Friday and is also a Spanish tutor. I’ve been staying with her in her room this week yet I’ve barely seen her. We went downtown to get Malts my first night which was awesome, but most of the time she’s had to spend working or in the study room. I’m working 3-10:30 M-Thursday with Upward Bound, in addition to night duty and day duty each once a week. Oh and I discovered my after school program job turned into 16 hours instead of 7 hours. When did summer become the time to work your butt off and hopefully pay a large portion of your tuition instead of having fun and bonding with those who matter most? I’m thankful I love both my jobs and I’m passionate about what I’m doing. I just hope I don’t overdo it. I hope that no one burns out this summer and we all get to spend nice relaxing weekends downtown or at the beach.
