    Courtney's Bio:
I'm an Elementary Education major at CSS. I also plan to minor in Spanish. Having done PSEO, I came to CSS with more than 60 credits. I'm part of Volunteers Involved Through Action (VITA), Students Today Leaders Forever (STLF), and other clubs! Dance has been part of my life for 10 years, and now I'm trying to fit it into my schedule again. I love spending time watching Supernatural and Once Upon a Time, and reading Harry Potter and other great books. I live in a suite with 3 other girls, and we are always finding something fun to do around campus!

Finding Off-Campus Housing

My boyfriend was just accepted into the CSS Graduate Teacher’s Licensure program! Wooh! However that means he also needs a place to stay in Duluth. If you are trying to find housing off-campus, your best bet is January-May. Most leases in the area go June 1st-May 31st, simply because of how the school season works and it is a college town. Currently, it’s a mad dash trying to find housing with anyone even partially sane, but also in the budget. These are things I never thought about when I first got to college. I would see in my emails things about “subleases”, having no idea what those were. Subleasing means you signed a lease to have a spot at a specific place, but are no longer wanting to/can live there, so someone else is taking your place. People sublease their rooms because they are studying abroad, found something better, graduating early and moving out of Duluth, or they simply don’t get along with their roommates. It can be a tricky situation. There’s a lot of Facebook groups and such that connect people looking or roommates or housing, but still with school this close, it’s really hard to find something decent that isn’t swept from under your nose. This is one reason I definitely enjoy the lesser stressful staying on campus option. Hopefully my boyfriend will find something soon!
