Day 8 of PIFT
Day 8 of the PIFT meant things were slowing down for us. We left Atlanta early in the morning to get started towards Effingham, Illinois, our halfway stop where we would stay for the night. For a change of pace, we actually stopped in downtown Nashville for lunch! Because it’s Lent season, my group had to find a place that was fish-friendly. We found Joe’s Crab Shack and a huge, amazing lunch. We also stopped at a few candy places and got ice cream. One thing about Nashville that I noticed… SO many cowboy boot stores! It was almost ridiculous, but then again, it is the home of country music. Once we arrived in Effingham we walked around the community center we were staying at and played on the playground for a while. We did some last minute bonding activities, then everyone began the “all-nighter” of all all-nighters. Our bus was leaving at 5, we had to be up by 4:30, so people had all night games of volleyball, Cards Against Humanity, and so much more. We even had some Zumba instructors on the trip and I did Zumba for a while! I fell asleep early around 12:30 and woke back up at 4:30, last one on the bus somehow.
