Hello, Handshake!
This morning, career services held a training session for its employees. Being one of them, I got to enjoy breakfast while being instructed on how to use Handshake: an online platform that could be defined as the college student version of LinkedIn. As a graduating student who is looking for jobs, it is difficult to compete in a market flooded with overqualified veterans (i.e. LinkedIn). Handshake, however, is specifically aimed at students; most Handshake recruiters expect applicants to be newly minted college graduates who are looking for entry-level jobs, which makes the application process much more practical. Best part is that in addition to having a platform designed to fit your needs, you now have job skills assistants equipped to advise you on how to have the most competitive Handshake profile! What is your excuse to not get the job you want?
