    Bailey's Bio:
I am an Advertising and Public Relations major, minoring in Management and English. I grew up in Duluth and love the city, so I figured why not go to a college here? Lucky for me Duluth has The College of St. Scholastica. I enjoy the small campus size and the many great friends I have made throughout my three years here. The highlight of my time at CSS has been participating in the Ireland study abroad program. Im looking forward to my senior year and all the opportunities it may present.

Photo Shoot

So far at my internship with Duluth Pack I have gotten the opportunity to learn about many different aspects of marketing and advertising.  I also realize that I should probably explain what Duluth Pack is, just in case you haven’t heard of it, before I continue.  Duluth Pack is a local company that makes backpacks, outdoor packs, luggage and other outdoor gear.  They handcraft all their packs and offer a lifetime guarantee! They have grown a lot and sell and ship their packs and other products out all over the world!  I have carried a Duluth Pack backpack since early high school and still love it and use it today at Scholastica.   The majority of my time at Duluth Pack I work with and observe their social networking sites and how they use them to build relationships with their customers and help business grow.  The internet is a platform that I feel is very important for businesses and is ultimately the platform I would like to use the most in advertising after graduation.  I have also gotten the chance to be a part of organizing accessories for booths for conventions that Duluth Pack will be participating in, making marketing plans and implementing them, and watching the creations the graphic designers make as they create them.

Today was a very exciting day because we got to do a photo shoot for Duluth Pack’s back to school ads.  A couple days ago we started planning for this shoot and it was very interesting to be a part of the planning process and then actually being at the photo shoot to see things fall into place.  We got a group of eleven kids aging from Kindergarten to High School and went to a local school to get the shots.  It was a very busy day getting kids to be where they were supposed to be, giving them different backpack styles and colors for different shots, stuffing plastic and binders into backpacks to make them look full and helping the photographers (Duluth Pack’s graphic designers) with whatever they needed help with.  I think we got some really good pictures and am excited to see the ads they will be turned into.  Be on the lookout for some great Duluth Pack back to school ads! It was a lot of fun to get out of the office and be a part of this photo shoot.  The kids had a lot of energy and got to be a bit crazy at times, but  I am glad I got to be a part of this and got to see this behind the scenes part of advertising firsthand.
