    Amanda's Bio:
I grew up in the Twin Cities, but now live up in Ely, MN near the BWCA, where my family has been for the last 7 years. I have three brothers, who I adore, and I enjoy fishing, playing basketball, and rough housing with them whenever I can. My mom has been a daycare provider since I was born, which served as inspiration for me to pursue a degree in Elementary education. I also love to paint, draw, and DANCE! I have been dancing for twenty years and am a dance instructor in Superior, WI....I can't imagine a life without it!

When You Can’t Relax, Draw.

I am finally done with studying for my licensure exams for school, just in time for the last week of summer vacation!  I finally have been able to spend the last few days doing the things that I truly enjoy doing, like shooting baskets in the sunshine, going tanning outside and at the beach, and fishing.  One other activity that I have always loved to do, which should come as no surprise with my art minor, is drawing.  I love it.  There is nothing more relaxing or therapeutic than sitting with a pad of paper, a pencil, and an MP3 player filled with your favorite music and simply drawing images that inspire you.  It helps me to sort out my thoughts, and what is perhaps even more important, it enables me to build up my portfolio for my degree!

I have been able to work on a piece the last couple of days that is inspired by the Iron Range here in Minnesota.  I have focused many of my sketches on Ely and nature in Northern Minnesota, and this drawing is no exception.  Check it out on the attached link 🙂  This one took me about 4 or 5 hours to complete.
