    I grew up in the Twin Cities, but now live up in Ely, MN near the BWCA, where my family has been for the last 7 years. I have three brothers, who I adore, and I enjoy fishing, playing basketball, and rough housing with them whenever I can. My mom has been a daycare provider since I was born, which served as inspiration for me to pursue a degree in Elementary education. I also love to paint, draw, and DANCE! I have been dancing for twenty years and am a dance instructor in Superior, WI....I can't imagine a life without it!

TONS to explore this weekend

If you are looking for some interesting events to explore for the weekend ahead, you are in luck.  This weekend is speckled with all kinds of exciting activities and occurrences around the area.  While I could list all of them, it would probably make more sense for me to highlight the ones that I find would be most intriguing for the college student population.  So, here are my suggestions!

1. CALLING ALL YOU DANCERS: UMD’s Attitudes Dance Association is showcasing their talents in jazz, tap, lyrical, hip hop, and many other dancing styles in their spring show this weekend.  If you love to dance or just enjoy watching, this will definitely promise to be an awesome show.  It will be taking place at Woodland Middle School (close and convenient!) and begins at 7:30 pm on Saturday.

2. 21 +: The Jaycee club of Duluth-Superior will be hosting a “Gitchee Gumee” Brewfest this weekend at the Wessman Arena (Catlin Avenue in Superior).  It is strictly an event to socialize, drink beer, and support the club and its members.  Sounds like a relaxing fun time to me!  It begins Saturday evening at 4:00 and lasts until 8:00 (still enough time to go out after!).

3. Looking to volunteer to build up those resumes?  Miller Hill Mall is hosting a volunteer fair for non-profit and community organizations.  There will be opportunities to network, sign up for different volunteer opportunities, and a chance to win free stuff! (i.e. raffles)  Check it out from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday.

4. ROCK CONCERT FOR A GREAT CAUSE.  The Clyde over in West Duluth is again hosting a wonderful weekend event: Rock Out Autism.  5 local and surrounding area rock bands will be showcasing their talents with all proceeds going to the Autism Association of Northern Minnesota to support children and adults with the disorder.  I HIGHLY recommend this event.  What an awesome way to support the community and catch some excellent music at the same time.  Begins at 7:00 pm.
