    Amanda's Bio:
I grew up in the Twin Cities, but now live up in Ely, MN near the BWCA, where my family has been for the last 7 years. I have three brothers, who I adore, and I enjoy fishing, playing basketball, and rough housing with them whenever I can. My mom has been a daycare provider since I was born, which served as inspiration for me to pursue a degree in Elementary education. I also love to paint, draw, and DANCE! I have been dancing for twenty years and am a dance instructor in Superior, WI....I can't imagine a life without it!

The Day After Johnny Holms…

Oh boy.  Waking up after a night of fun with the Johnny Holms band and finding yourself in a random room that you don’t remember falling asleep in…always makes for an interesting morning doesn’t it?  For many of us, today will be a day to relax, maybe catch an Oozeball game or two, and recover with lots of water for the probability of another fun night ahead.  What are some good ways to help your mind and body out?  Here are some ideas:

  • Stay hydrated, the right way.  Drink lots of water and drinks that will restore energy levels, like Gatorade or Powerade.  This will help get your body back into a healthier and more stable state.
  • Get your antioxidants.  These little babies will prevent you from getting sick after putting your body through stressful or overworking situations.  Take vitamins or simply load up on antioxidant rich foods, like grapes.
  • Eat.  If you feel good enough to take in some food, it will most likely benefit you.  Start small and work your way up to a bigger meal.  Some swear by greasy food…but do this at your own discretion (sometimes it can make you sick instead!)
  • Exercise.  Oh yes, believe it or not, that gym workout that you have been avoiding over the week is actually beneficial in these situations!  Not only will it help clear your mind, but it will get the blood flowing and help to flush out any remaining….levels…that may still be lingering in your system. 😉
  • Take a shower and sleep it off!  A nice hot shower will open up your nasal passages and make you feel fresh.  Then, take a little nap to rest your mind and body and prepare for another “productive” day!
