I grew up in the Twin Cities, but now live up in Ely, MN near the BWCA, where my family has been for the last 7 years. I have three brothers, who I adore, and I enjoy fishing, playing basketball, and rough housing with them whenever I can. My mom has been a daycare provider since I was born, which served as inspiration for me to pursue a degree in Elementary education. I also love to paint, draw, and DANCE! I have been dancing for twenty years and am a dance instructor in Superior, WI....I can't imagine a life without it!

Summer 2012: Last Chance Bucket List

As the last days of summer vacation wind down, I often think about what activities I have not yet gotten a chance to enjoy during the other months of summer….and the ones I can’t bear to think about missing out on before returning to school!  There are two weeks left before we return to the drone of homework, regular classes, and the onset of cooler temperatures.  I plan to make the most of it and to end my summer with a final “bang” before returning to normalcy.  It’s not too late!  The following activities and tasks make up my end of the summer bucket list.  Hope I get them all checked off in these final two weeks:

1. Get out on the lake and go trolling for walleye.  Fishing is one of my favorite activities in the world…and I have been so busy with work that I haven’t made it out in the boat once!  I am going to have to change that in the next couple of days.

2. Run through a sprinkler.  This is the little kid in me…still love my sprinkler!

3. Have ice cream at the local creamery.  I love ice cream in the summer, but the frozen ice cream from the grocery store just isn’t cutting it for me this summer.  I need some fresh stuff to make it a true summer experience!

4. Barbecue with close friends.  Nothing is more delicious or memorable than hanging out with your closest buddies and grilling up delicious food over the coals.  I can’t wait.

5. Go for a walk in the woods.  I haven’t gotten a chance to explore the wonderful outdoor trails up here yet this year, and I feel truly robbed by not experiencing it.  The natural plants, wildlife, and gorgeous lakes put you at peace.

6. See a wolf.  So far this summer, I have seen a black bear and numerous deer during my day to day.  However, it’s not truly summer until you see a wolf run aimlessly across the road or cross your path on a walk.  They are some of the most amazing animals.

7. Make a sandcastle with some random kiddos at the beach.  I love making friends with little kids, because they are the most open minded individuals you will ever meet.  They love to find new people to play with, especially when that person wants to engage in the same activities they do.  Who wouldn’t want to play in the sand and water?!
