Starting off the Semester on the Right Foot
Joy oh joy. Time to start thinking about that upcoming semester and what to get ready for. It seems like there is quite a bit of time left…but it’s already the fourth, which means school starts back up in less than 2 weeks. Soo…what sorts of preparations need to be made?
- Go on the school webpage and go over your schedule. Write down when and where your classes will be.
- Begin to get any basic supplies that you may need for going back to class, such as new notebooks, pencils, and binders.
- Start looking at the college bookstore and determining which textbooks you will need for your classes. As a helpful hint, I encourage you to try comparing some of the books to those found on Amazon or Ebay…(you might get some better deals this way). However, make sure you order soon, because sometimes the shipping can take a couple weeks.
- Think about what supplies are low at your dorm/apartment. Decide whether you will purchase these items when you get back to school or if you can take some from home and bring them with you.
- If you haven’t talked to your roommates over break, give them a text, call, or email to check in. See how their break was and how they are doing to touch base and reconnect.
- Start to mentally prepare for your classes. What should you expect in terms of work? How can you be organized and ready for each day? What improvements can you make from the previous semester?
Most important thing: have confidence in yourself. Half of the school year is over, and only one semester stands between you and summer break. Let’s make the final push!
