    I grew up in the Twin Cities, but now live up in Ely, MN near the BWCA, where my family has been for the last 7 years. I have three brothers, who I adore, and I enjoy fishing, playing basketball, and rough housing with them whenever I can. My mom has been a daycare provider since I was born, which served as inspiration for me to pursue a degree in Elementary education. I also love to paint, draw, and DANCE! I have been dancing for twenty years and am a dance instructor in Superior, WI....I can't imagine a life without it!

Today, I am feeling like a complete zombie. After a week of sleeping only 6 hours of sleep a night, I am starting to feel like I am back at school again! With all the stress and tasks to do on my mind, I simply can’t find peace when trying to sleep at night. To try to curb my sleep deprivation, I researched some techniques and tricks for falling asleep at night. If you struggle to sleep like me, consider the following ideas!

  • “Mental Imagination”

 See different images, people, and objects in your mind and focus in on them.  Use your concentration on these images to fall asleep and find a restful mind.

  • “Falling”

Imagine that you are falling into space and that your body is weightless.  Relax your body and let yourself feel as though you are suspended in the air.

  • “Reverse Psychology”

 Attempt to stay awake, instead.  Sometimes this can provoke your body to actually do the reverse and fall asleep.  It knows what you truly need to be healthy!

  • “Recall Your Day”

 Think back over the events that have happened during the day.  This can help bring closure to all that has happened and allow your to relax.

  • “Distance Focus”

Focus your eyes out into the distance underneath your eyelids.  This has been proven to be the most restful and comfortable way in which to sleep and can help you attain sleep more easily.
