    Amanda's Bio:
I grew up in the Twin Cities, but now live up in Ely, MN near the BWCA, where my family has been for the last 7 years. I have three brothers, who I adore, and I enjoy fishing, playing basketball, and rough housing with them whenever I can. My mom has been a daycare provider since I was born, which served as inspiration for me to pursue a degree in Elementary education. I also love to paint, draw, and DANCE! I have been dancing for twenty years and am a dance instructor in Superior, WI....I can't imagine a life without it!

Shall We Dance?

For those of you who don’t know this about me, I am obsessed with dance.  I have been competing since kindergarten and have absorbed nearly every sort of style there is, from ballet to hip hop to modern.  Since I have been home for the summer and away from the studio in Superior where I teach, I have been unable to find time to choreograph and work on my dancing thanks to an incredibly busy work schedule.  Yesterday, however, I was blessed with the morning off of work and had the opportunity to choreograph for my jazz and lyrical classes for an hour and a half, and what a difference it made in my overall mood!  When I dance, I can put all of the stress and worries that life has imposed upon me and leave them on the floor.  I feel free and nothing bothers me.

I feel that everyone has some sort of release in their life…some sort of activity or way of thinking that allows them to temporarily “escape” from their troubles and be at peace.  Maybe you already know what that release is in your life, and if so, I advise and encourage you to take time out of your week…even if its just an hour or two…to RELAX and enjoy it.  If you have yet to find what relieves your anxiety and helps you to be peaceful, look for it!  Try new activities and do things with friends that you may not normally do.  Find that release.  When the school year finally rolls around, you will be glad that you did! 🙂
