    Amanda's Bio:
I grew up in the Twin Cities, but now live up in Ely, MN near the BWCA, where my family has been for the last 7 years. I have three brothers, who I adore, and I enjoy fishing, playing basketball, and rough housing with them whenever I can. My mom has been a daycare provider since I was born, which served as inspiration for me to pursue a degree in Elementary education. I also love to paint, draw, and DANCE! I have been dancing for twenty years and am a dance instructor in Superior, WI....I can't imagine a life without it!

Remember Mother’s Day

Hey all!  Hope everyone’s transition from school to home went well and that you are all safe and sound and ready to work!  In all of the moving hubbub, you may have forgotten to get a gift for that special lady for today: Mother’s Day.  If so, it’s no worries at all (I think many of us did!)…not intentionally of course,  just out of pure busy-ness.  Here is a list of quick gift ideas in case you need to make a shopping run for mom.

  • Flowers. What mom doesn’t like them?  Make sure you add a sweet and well-written card to make them special.
  • Slippers.
  • Necklace.  Try to make it something meaningful, like the color of your birthstone or a really special symbol that she can relate to.
  • Chocolates.  A box of just about any sampler will usually do the trick.  If available, run to a local sweets shop or specialty chocolatier and get her something extra delicious!
  • Breakfast.  Either make it yourself or take her out for some.  Pancakes, waffles, bacon….doesn’t get much better than that!
  • Poems or quote plaques.  These are cute nick-knacks and can be used to decorate the home…they are pretty difficult to turn down if they are meaningful and relevant.
  • Picture frames.  Add a special picture of the two of you in it and if the frame is plain, decorate it a little bit with your own hand-made designs.  It’s like a grade school flashback!
