    Amanda's Bio:
I grew up in the Twin Cities, but now live up in Ely, MN near the BWCA, where my family has been for the last 7 years. I have three brothers, who I adore, and I enjoy fishing, playing basketball, and rough housing with them whenever I can. My mom has been a daycare provider since I was born, which served as inspiration for me to pursue a degree in Elementary education. I also love to paint, draw, and DANCE! I have been dancing for twenty years and am a dance instructor in Superior, WI....I can't imagine a life without it!

Rainbows and Snow… Oh my!

Well today is our lesson on spring and rainbows, and look at all of the glorious snow we have outside! haha.  Oh well.  Welcome to Minnesota I suppose.  It should turn out to be a pretty okay day (as long as all goes according to plans, which in kindergarten never happens!).  But I am optimistic that we will make it through one way or another.  We have some fun imaginative reading activities going on today, where the kids will get to talk about different opposites that they know from their everyday life and write about them.  They also will get to pretend to fly over their neighborhoods and talk about what they see and who is in them.  Our theme is the community this week, so it ties in rather nicely!

Then, they get to continue to learn about the letter Vv.  We are using our tactile cards to make Vs using velcro, and then the kids will get to read through each of the letter and trace the other crazy items they used to form the other letters.  Then, we will also do some practice activities with the words up and down and they will get to make cards for these words, as well.  Math will be one of my favorite topics today!  We are doing a grocery store set-up using nonperishable food items from home.  We are going to practice adding and subtracting different amounts of items in the store, and then when we are all done using the items in school, we will be donating them to CHUM to help our community.  Sweet, huh?

Hope everyone has a great day and that you stay dry despite all of that snow! 🙂
