    Amanda's Bio:
I grew up in the Twin Cities, but now live up in Ely, MN near the BWCA, where my family has been for the last 7 years. I have three brothers, who I adore, and I enjoy fishing, playing basketball, and rough housing with them whenever I can. My mom has been a daycare provider since I was born, which served as inspiration for me to pursue a degree in Elementary education. I also love to paint, draw, and DANCE! I have been dancing for twenty years and am a dance instructor in Superior, WI....I can't imagine a life without it!

New Years Eve: What to Do!

It’s hard to believe the New Year is just right around the corner and that 2013 will be welcoming us by the end of the day.  For those of you at home with family still, I hope you have a very blessed and wonderful New Years!  There is nothing more special than being able to spend it with those you love.  However, for those who have had to make the trek back to Duluth (like myself), I have a few suggestions for fun events to get out and experience for New Years.  These are some of my favorites to hit up:

New Years Eve at Beaner’s:
Beaner’s is located out in West Duluth and will be hosting live bands literally throughout the entire day to commemorate New Years.  There will be 24 bands playing, beginning at 6:30 am until 1:00 am (shortly into the New Year).  Join the crowd of West Duluth with coffee, music, and dancing!

Mr. D’s hosting The What Four:
This is probably one of my very favorite bar and restaurants in all of Duluth.  D’s is out in West Duluth and tonight will be hosting the band The What Four beginning at 9:30 pm.  There will be a $5.00 cover for entry, but it’s always a blast to stop in and see what’s going on at this low-key joint.

Rubber Chicken Theater Revue at Fitgers:
The Rubber Chicken Theater will be presenting their 5th Annual Holiday Revue at Fitger’s Spirit of the North Center.  The Rubber Chicken Theater is a group that centers around originally performed and written sketch comedies and hilarious choreography, and their take on the Christmas season is sure to be interesting!  They begin the show at 7:00 pm and cover is $10-$15.  Totally worth a good laugh to ring in the New Year!

Dubh Linn’s hosts the Dueling Pianos:
The Dueling Pianos will be playing a selection of rock with some comedic twists and will be followed up by a dj and dancing until the ball drops at midnight.  To see the show begin at 6:00 pm, cover is $20.  However, if you head there afterwards, you should be able to slip right in.  Looks like it will be an awesome time.
