    Amanda's Bio:
I grew up in the Twin Cities, but now live up in Ely, MN near the BWCA, where my family has been for the last 7 years. I have three brothers, who I adore, and I enjoy fishing, playing basketball, and rough housing with them whenever I can. My mom has been a daycare provider since I was born, which served as inspiration for me to pursue a degree in Elementary education. I also love to paint, draw, and DANCE! I have been dancing for twenty years and am a dance instructor in Superior, WI....I can't imagine a life without it!

Minnesota’s Best (and Worst) of 2011

The list is out!  What media, restaurants, and music top the charts in our hearts and in our state for the 2011 year, and what ended up being a bust.  Some of these came as a bit of a surprise, but many were actually completely predictable (and true!).

Among the best restaurants list for 2011 is Muddy Waters, an eclectic Dutch Bistro in Saint Paul, and Mojo Monkey Donuts also in Saint Paul on West Seventh Street.   Highly recommend, if you live in the cities area or visit!

For the best albums for Minnesota residents, Bon Iver, Adele, and Radiohead all were among the top.  While Bon Iver was not among one of the bands I am familiar with, they actually produced the number one most popular album.  Perhaps I should try listening to them!  Radiohead and Adele, however, I have listened to.  They are decent, so they would be worth listening to if you want to expand your musical selection 🙂

Best video games of the year: “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” and “Batman: Arkham City” are among the top, as well as “Call of Duty: Black Ops” and “Skyrim.”  All I can say to this is big surprise there!  What college students don’t play Call of Duty? haha

Best TV shows were “The Office,” “Parks and Rec,” “30 Rock,” and “Dexter.”  Also, big surprise, especially with the show “The Office.”  This has been a college staple for the last 3 years I have been in school.  When you need a cheap laugh (and oftentimes a cheesy one), watch this show.

Now, for some of the worst, we get a look at movies.  Among the worst movies of the year were “Jack and Jill,” “The Hangover 2,” and “Twilight: Breaking Dawn.”  Personally, I strongly dislike the Twilight series, so I was not heartbroken to see it on the bottom.  However, I know that thousands of people swear by the vampire drama, and so I was surprised.  But, as for “Hangover 2,” what can I say?  Some movies are not meant to be made into a sequel!
