    Amanda's Bio:
I grew up in the Twin Cities, but now live up in Ely, MN near the BWCA, where my family has been for the last 7 years. I have three brothers, who I adore, and I enjoy fishing, playing basketball, and rough housing with them whenever I can. My mom has been a daycare provider since I was born, which served as inspiration for me to pursue a degree in Elementary education. I also love to paint, draw, and DANCE! I have been dancing for twenty years and am a dance instructor in Superior, WI....I can't imagine a life without it!

Holy Week

This week is a very important one for those of many faiths, especially Christianity and Judaism.  This Sunday on Easter we celebrate the rising of Jesus Christ from the dead to open up the kingdom of Heaven for all of us.  In anticipation for this glorious and special celebration, we spend the week preparing our minds and bodies.  This last Sunday we had Palm Sunday, in which we commemorated Jesus entering the city on a camel and donned palm branches as they did in the past.  We also listened to the passion of Christ through bible readings for our gospel.  On Thursday (Holy Thursday), we continue to commemorate Jesus’ sacrifice for us by having adoration.  On Friday, we have the stations of the cross where we recognize the passion of Jesus and see the steps and pain that he endured for us.  Then, on Sunday, we are able to rise up and give thanks for his wonder and great gift on Easter.

During this time, it is customary to participate in reconciliation (or seeing a priest to be reconciled from sin).  This is a very important part of starting the season with new beginnings and a clear and clean conscience.  I must fit this into my week at some point!
