    Amanda's Bio:
I grew up in the Twin Cities, but now live up in Ely, MN near the BWCA, where my family has been for the last 7 years. I have three brothers, who I adore, and I enjoy fishing, playing basketball, and rough housing with them whenever I can. My mom has been a daycare provider since I was born, which served as inspiration for me to pursue a degree in Elementary education. I also love to paint, draw, and DANCE! I have been dancing for twenty years and am a dance instructor in Superior, WI....I can't imagine a life without it!

Happy Sunday

Another Sunday is upon us, which means we will all be catching up on homework, relaxing, and enjoying the Vikes game.  I actually plan to have a “me” day today.  One of those days where you take time for yourself and just enjoy a day of catching up on the stuff you need to get accomplished.  We all need these kind of days once in a while, if not to keep our peace of mind, then to refocus and look forward to what is to come in the week ahead or near future.  One of the ways I like to spend days like this is going out window shopping and just walking around the shops.  It’s always nice to immerse yourself in a location that you can “get lost,” so to speak.  Nobody knows you, you can be a fly on the wall, and just sort things out.

However, one of my favorite ways to pass the time and relax is, as many of you know, drawing.  For some reason, drawing serves as one of the most peaceful and humbling activities I have ever come upon.  You are able to deconstruct an image, an object, whatever calls to you, and capture it on the page in a way that expresses your feelings.  It doesn’t even have to appear as the object you are inspired by does.  It can be abstract, as well, like so many artists have revealed and executed beautifully in the past.  With the weather as gorgeous as it is out today, I think I will grab a seat outside, pull up a chair, and get to sketching!

Hope all of you have a wonderful Sunday and do something that enables you to have your very own “me” day.  Whether it’s playing your favorite sport, baking, or playing music, make it relaxing and specific to what YOU want and need.  Enjoy the beautiful day!
