    Amanda's Bio:
I grew up in the Twin Cities, but now live up in Ely, MN near the BWCA, where my family has been for the last 7 years. I have three brothers, who I adore, and I enjoy fishing, playing basketball, and rough housing with them whenever I can. My mom has been a daycare provider since I was born, which served as inspiration for me to pursue a degree in Elementary education. I also love to paint, draw, and DANCE! I have been dancing for twenty years and am a dance instructor in Superior, WI....I can't imagine a life without it!

Happy Monday!

I so enjoyed going to school today and seeing my kindergarteners’ smiling faces bright and early this morning.  They have this amazing ability to brighten up even the most desolate of times just by coming up to you and asking for help or saying how much they enjoy spending time at school with their friends.  I was entirely exhausted about the idea of waking up so early (5 in the morning daily!) and teaching this morning, but those feelings melted away once I got there 🙂

Some highlights for the day included:

-Working one on one with students to talk about their resolutions for the New Year.  Some of my favorite responses were “In 2013, I want to try scrapbooking” and “In 2013, I want to play Lego Starwars with my dad.”  haha!  So cute!

-Reading the story We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and listening to the students chant the words of the story quietly while getting ready for nap time.

-Talking about the Vikings with my boys and anticipating what the new season will be like with Adrian Peterson!

-Being told that I will be a successful teacher and that I am capable of running conferences for the class (although I don’t think I would want to do so this early in the game!).

-Sharing some new technology and resources with my master teacher and getting excited about the upcoming holiday-themed lessons that we will start to plan soon.

-Assembling pictures of the students from last week’s “Teddy Bear Picnic,” where they brought in their favorite teddy bear, shared a special snack with them, and spent the afternoon outside sledding and enjoying the wintry weather.  Some of our snapshots were just too adorable.

Can’t wait for another busy and memorable day tomorrow.  I’ll be sure to keep you all posted 🙂
