Hairball!

And no, I’m not talking about the kind of hairballs your cat coughs up in the morning!  I’m talking about the 80s metal tribute band that plays all around the state.  Yesterday, the band played out at Black Bear Casino, and I was able to go and check it out with a few close buddies.  It was outrageous.

First, the band’s appearance was priceless. The drummer’s hair blew around crazily as he bashed the drums and the members were dressed up like Prince, Van Halen, Alice Cooper, and Journey.  They wore crazy leather pants and leggings, complete with giant holes all along them.  Each person had their own unique personality and flair to add to the show, but the lead singer definitely took the cake.  He downed half a bottle of whiskey on stage and played a balancing act with the mike stand.  Hilarious!

Second, the special effects and view were phenomenal.  Streamers were shot out of cannons, smoke machines were used constantly, and the light show was super colorful and crazy.  The show took place in one of the convention center rooms of the casino, and since the band played on a raised stage and had two giant television screens documenting their every move, the view was terrific from wherever you stood.  No one had any issues jamming out with the band members!

Best of all was the music that they decided to showcase.  All of the songs were popular 80s rock hits, so the crowd was able to sing along to practically every song and get really into the spirit!  We jammed to “Don’t Stop Believin,”  “School’s Out for the Summer,” “For Those About to Rock, We Salute You,” “Back in Black,” and of course “Jump.”  Dancing and moshing was a necessity, not an option, and everyone got a little crazy in the crowd.  What a blast.

By the time we left, none of us could really hear and it felt like we were hanging out underwater, but all in all we agreed that the concert was fantastic.  If you get the opportunity to see Hairball live in the future, I highly recommend you go.  You won’t be disappointed!
