I grew up in the Twin Cities, but now live up in Ely, MN near the BWCA, where my family has been for the last 7 years. I have three brothers, who I adore, and I enjoy fishing, playing basketball, and rough housing with them whenever I can. My mom has been a daycare provider since I was born, which served as inspiration for me to pursue a degree in Elementary education. I also love to paint, draw, and DANCE! I have been dancing for twenty years and am a dance instructor in Superior, WI....I can't imagine a life without it!

Goooood Morning!

Hello all!  Hope your weekend is going fantastically so far and you have had a chance to get outside here and there to enjoy the slightly warmer temperatures.  I somehow have woken up super early the last two days of my weekend (before 7!) and haven’t been able to get back to sleep, so I have been making good use of the weather and spending my extra hours outside whenever I can.  It makes me excited for spring and summer to come!

I realize that virtually all of us are waste-deep in the stress and paperwork of school as we near the end of the semester, but it is super important that sometimes we take time for ourselves and doing what we enjoy.  Here are some ways to enjoy that changing weather (even if you have to bring your homework along for the trip):

1. Visit a coffee shop with a view.  If you can’t break away from the computer, plug in at Caribou in Canal Park or another favorite spot for a good morning brew.  That way you can at least enjoy the spring weather with your eyes and be close to the action!

2. Take a walk.  Bring your book or Ipod along and walk the Lakewalk or on the trails at Saint Scholastica.  It will help to clear your head and give you some time to observe the beauty of spring.

3. Play hooky.  Yes, I said it.  Sometimes you just need to take a day off…but just make sure that you spend your time carefully and to the maximum benefit for you!  Do a little work, then take a break and enjoy yourself a little, too.

4. Do some spring cleaning and planting.  This is one of my favorite parts about spring.  The warm weather seems to give you energy and drive to start fresh, and the desire to plant flowers, vegetables, and other plants outside is always a common itch at this time.  Give into it!  Work your green thumb, even if you don’t believe that you actually have one.  You may be surprised!
