    Amanda's Bio:
I grew up in the Twin Cities, but now live up in Ely, MN near the BWCA, where my family has been for the last 7 years. I have three brothers, who I adore, and I enjoy fishing, playing basketball, and rough housing with them whenever I can. My mom has been a daycare provider since I was born, which served as inspiration for me to pursue a degree in Elementary education. I also love to paint, draw, and DANCE! I have been dancing for twenty years and am a dance instructor in Superior, WI....I can't imagine a life without it!

Give Yourself a Boost

Life, at times, can be very overwhelming.  We can sometimes feel as though we are losing control or we can’t be ourselves.  Between doing homework, completing applications for different aspects of our degrees, working, and sports or extracurriculars, how do you find time to enjoy what you love most?  Friends, family, and moments of just being by yourself are so important, and it is necessary every once in a while to take some time for yourself and enjoy what you love.  It will help boost your spirit and allow you to refocus.  Now, not everyone enjoys the same things and no two people are uplifted in the same way.  If aren’t particularly intrigued with the ideas I give,  I encourage you to go do whatever else you love to do and that enables you to be at peace:

For stressful bodies:

  • Go to the spa or get a massage
  • Take a trip to the chiropractor
  • Get a manicure or pedicure
  • Play a game of your favorite sport noncompetitively
  • Do yoga
  • Take a dance lesson

For overwhelmed minds:

  • Listen to your favorite music while taking a walk
  • Read a book you enjoy
  • Watch a movie or your favorite tv series
  • Play an instrument
  • Draw or paint
  • Go hunting or fishing
  • Attend a church service

For stressful matters of the heart:

  • Go window shopping
  • Have a coffee date either with yourself or a close friend
  • Journal
  • Call your mom or dad and talk it out (they give the best advice!)
  • Pray
  • Take a drive
  • Eat ice cream!

Remember: Only YOU know what makes you happy.  Do what you need to do to accomplish this!
