    Amanda's Bio:
I grew up in the Twin Cities, but now live up in Ely, MN near the BWCA, where my family has been for the last 7 years. I have three brothers, who I adore, and I enjoy fishing, playing basketball, and rough housing with them whenever I can. My mom has been a daycare provider since I was born, which served as inspiration for me to pursue a degree in Elementary education. I also love to paint, draw, and DANCE! I have been dancing for twenty years and am a dance instructor in Superior, WI....I can't imagine a life without it!

Celebrate Your Birthday Right!

Well, unfortunately, my birthday is in fact tomorrow.  As you get older, it seems that there is very little to celebrate about birthdays (21 is kind of the “last hurrah” of new privileges!) haha.  I will be making the best of it in class, celebrating with 6 hours of consecutive learning.  However, once it’s done, I will do my best to turn it around with a lovely three day weekend to enjoy.  I cannot wait!  And actually, I will be celebrating my birthday to the max, but in a way that many people don’t even take advantage of.  It’s called “birthday deals!”  There are tons of ways that you can get free birthday treats, services, and fun simply by showing your ID on your birthday.  Here are some of the great ways to celebrate…for free!

Hungry for Breakfast?

  • With your ID presented, you can go to Denny’s and get a free Grand Slam breakfast!  For those of you who have never had a Grand Slam, it is basically a full platter of eggs, toast, and bacon prepared speedy quick for your starving taste buds.  Awesome way to start the day out!

Need a cup of coffee to fuel your morning?  Everyone knows I do!  Well thankfully, I can receive free coffee tomorrow.

  • Present your ID and the birthday coupon off their website, and Caribou will give you a free drink for your birthday!  I know I will be here at some point.

Free ice cream and treats?  Look no farther

  • Stop at Culvers with an ID and get a free ice cream sundae
  • Applebees will give you a free birthday dessert with an ID
  • Sammy’s Pizza gives birthday boys/girls a free ice cream sundae
  • If you stop at Taco Johns and flash an ID, you can get free cinni-sopapilla bites
  • Cold Stone will give you a buy one get one ice cream coupon, so go with a friend and get one free!

Local Establishment deals

  • At the Rex, you can get a free birthday t-shirt
  • At Black Water, you can have a complimentary bottle of champagne for you and your party
