Blessings and Happy Holidays

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone celebrating with family and friends today!  It is has been a very special weekend for me with all of my family and today should be equally as wonderful.  My family will be spending the day relaxing and spending time socializing with one another and eating a big turkey dinner.  We tend to go Thanksgiving style, complete with stuffing and cranberry sauce (it’s pretty much our favorite meal!).  However, I know my sister-in-law and her family will be celebrating today with Lutefisk (which in my opinion, is an acquired taste…I still haven’t attained it yet!).

More than anything, we celebrate today by giving thanks to God for the birth of His son, Jesus, into the world.  Sometimes, in the hustle and bustle of gifts, decorating the tree and house, making big holiday meals, and baking cookies, we forget that Jesus is the entire reason that we celebrate Christmas.  Had it not been for Him, there would be very little purpose behind today.  It would be a holiday just like any other, where we give celebrate family and friends but as mere tradition, not for any greater purpose.  Hence, on this day, I also say Happy Birthday.  Happy Birthday Jesus and happy celebrating to all!  I hope your day is extremely special and brings you great joy.  God bless!
