    Amanda's Bio:
I grew up in the Twin Cities, but now live up in Ely, MN near the BWCA, where my family has been for the last 7 years. I have three brothers, who I adore, and I enjoy fishing, playing basketball, and rough housing with them whenever I can. My mom has been a daycare provider since I was born, which served as inspiration for me to pursue a degree in Elementary education. I also love to paint, draw, and DANCE! I have been dancing for twenty years and am a dance instructor in Superior, WI....I can't imagine a life without it!

Best Fourth of July Displays in Minnesota

There are hundreds of thousands of people who will be shooting off fireworks across the state today, but we all know that some firework displays a significantly better than others. If you decide not to shoot off your own fireworks, here are some of this blogger’s favorite places to check out for brilliant firework shows this year:

  • Minneapolis: I know, I know.  This is a real “duh,” but it deserves a mentioning.  Known as the “Red, White, and Boom Celebration,” Minneapolis hosts a grand fireworks display to entertain viewers of all ages.  The show begins at 10:00 tonight, and is preceded by food, games, and music at various downtown locations.
  • Saint Cloud: This college town is known for having the largest display in Central Minnesota.  The show also begins at 10:00 and will be shot directly on the Mississippi.  If you happen to stop in and set up a place to view, both Hester and Wilson Park will be excellent for watching the show.
  • Ely!: My own hometown tourist destination will be hosting a parade and grand fireworks display for all its vacation-goers today.  The parade (which is known to attract as many as 100,000 viewers) begins at 1:00 and the show begins at 10:00.  Fireworks will be shot over Miners Lake.
  • Roseville: Each year, this suburb hosts their “Rosefest” celebration, which provides games, food, and musical entertainment for everyone throughout the course of the entire day.  Then, at around 10:15, fireworks!
