    Katelyn's Bio:
Hi! I'm Katelyn Gehling and I am a junior at St. Scholastica. I chose to come to Duluth because I have always loved vacationing in this city when I was younger and I think CSS is beautiful. On campus, I am involved in women's soccer, The Script, and the PT club. I plan on majoring in Exercise Physiology with the intent of going to grad school to become a physical therapist.

Outdoor Hockey

Hockey rinks around Duluth are starting to open up to the public! With the colder temperatures upon us, the conditions are perfect for forming good ice. Duluth Heights rink, a popular rink with St. Scholastica students due to its close proximity, was the first to open in Duluth this year. I have had the chance to skate on it twice since it opened with friends and I love it! If you love hockey/skating or want to learn, Duluth is the place to go!

Snowpocalypse

by / December 3rd, 2019 / Comments Off on Snowpocalypse

Mother Nature unleashed a mighty snowstorm on Duluth this past weekend. 22 inches on campus to be exact. The blizzard conditions wreaked havoc on Duluth, with plows still not having the roads cleared by Tuesday night. The roads were so bad the St. Scholastica and all surrounding schools decided to cancel classes Monday. Scholastica also had a delayed start until noon on Tuesday. Many students, including myself, took this extended Thanksgiving break time to study for our exams in the coming weeks, write our papers, and relax just a little bit longer before we report back to class. Students on campus were also seen sledding down the hill in front of Tower Hall! We make the best of situations here in Duluth, MN!

The women won the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference tournament title by beating rival Northwestern 4-1 on Saturday afternoon. The team celebrated the win by receiving a championship trophy, t shirts, and of course a bunch of photos. The team will find out who they will play in the first round of the tournament on Monday during the NCAA selection show at noon.

New Block of Intramural Sports Begin

by / November 6th, 2019 / Comments Off on New Block of Intramural Sports Begin

Block two of the school year of intramural sports began this past Monday with the advanced volleyball league. On Tuesday, co-ed basketball was played. Wednesdays are the night for the recreational volleyball league. The week finishes with soccer and tennis on Thursday nights. Intramurals are a great way to meet new people and to stay active, and it is all for free! I am a supervisor for soccer this block, and being apart of intramural sports has changed my college experience for the better. Consider joining a team at any point in your college career, you won't regret it!
