    Alex's Bio:
Hi, I am a junior here at St. Scholastica studying Biology. I just returned from studying abroad in New Zealand. I have loved living in Duluth and attending St. Scholastica so far. After St. Scholastica I hope to go to graduate school for environmental science. When I’m not studying you can find me hanging out with my friends around campus, working at Storm’s, or anywhere outside. I try to go up the North Shore and hike around Lake Superior when I have free time.

Guatemala Service

I know I already had a post about Guatemala, but I thought I should do another further explaining my favorite spot to do service. In a city close to San Lucas, we had to travel there by crossing a rope bridge over a river that a college from Michigan had constructed. While we were there, we worked on two houses for different families and a road to replace the dirt road leading into their community. We worked alongside the Guatemalan people to help them while they helped us learn about their way of life. They are very hardworking people who want to improve their living situations. Here’s a picture of some of the people in the group crossing the bridge. It was scary at first but after watching the Guatemalan people cross it and realize it’s necessary for their life, everyone made it across.
