Obersvation: Most college students do not have a lot of excess money lying around, yet many were able to scrounge up enough to go on a vacation either over spring or winter vacation, and I found myself beyond jealous. I have always been determined to treat myself to at least one vacation while still in college, because I have yet to be required to pay my loans back yet (key word: yet *wince*). My freshman year I opened a new bank account labeled “Vacation” and I just put a little here and there in every once in a while. Sometimes I would choose GDR rather than go out with my friends and put the money I saved by doing so in that account. This is a good habit to have regardless of whether you want to go on vacation or not, I think.

Anyways, the time has come where I may not be in college for two more years, so these upcoming breaks next school year are my last chance.

Lo and behold, I had enough saved for a vacation in paradise and I am beyond excited to go next winter break. I know it’s a luxury I am privileged to have, and not many can do what I just did, but I realized that I work really hard, and I felt like I saved the smart way, and I am really looking forward to finally taking a vacation – it’s something all of us college students need, anyways! I wish I could buy one for everybody!
