Shakespeare Performances

In my British Literature survey class, we read The Tempest by William Shakespeare, and this week we had to perform a skit from an Act in the play. We had to perform the same scene in two significantly different ways, and then write a paper about our decisions, why we made them, and what effect it had on our scene. It was actually quite interesting because our scene was only about a page and a half, yet we put so much work and thought into those few lines. We really analyzed how our choices affected the scene itself, and the end of the play. I have a much bigger appreciation for those that are involved in the production of real plays because there is a lot of work and interpretation involved, and it’s hard to know the best thing to do. Either way, it was a fun change of pace, and I enjoyed watching the other groups’ skits, too.
