World of Warcraft, John Keats, and my last paper

What does the popular MMORPG World of Warcraft have to do with 19th century romantic poet John Keats? Well, for one thing, they are both featured in my final paper for British Literature II, the last paper I need to write before I graduate! For this paper we were challenged with the task of selecting a written work we studied this semester and finding a modern artifact that clearly drew inspiration from or critiques it. And YES, World of Warcraft writers were inspired by Keats. In the third installment of the game there are hundreds of references to John Keats Poetry as well as several other well-known authors such as T.S. Eliot and William Wordsworth. Where are these references found? In the armor. John Keats “viewless wings of poesy” become WoWs Viewless Wings item level 359, +18 Agility, +27 Stamina, +12 Critical Strike, +12 Haste, usable by druids, hunters, rogues, Shaman, and Monks. I won’t get into the analysis here, but the point is, pay attention to where your academics come into play in every day life and get creative with your essay topics!
