The Fable: Student Newspaper Gone Satire

Happy Fable Friday!!! The Fable is the satire edition of our student newspaper, The Cable, and it only comes out once per year. It’s filled with great head-lines such as “Marketing Department Considers Adding a New Benedictine Value” and funny articles like “President Geary Still Using Google Maps to Find Campus.” Even the monastery gets in on the fun featuring an article by Sister Edith Bogue on the Monstarys consideration of growing marijuana. These headlines and articles are all in good fun, poking at school stereotypes, mishaps that occurred throughout the year, and current events. Each Fable includes a segment on the editorial board and graduating seniors of The Cable. This year, “Where will Cable Staff Be in Ten Years” suggested that I will be squatting in Cinderella’s Castle at Disney World, dodging the guards and fulfilling my dream to be a real Disney princess. For our senior send-off, the theme was “Hire the Cable Seniors” in which it listed my qualifications as “Organized AF.” The Fable is a lot of fun and definitely our most popular edition of the year. Head over to TheCableNews.com to read past Fable articles and current student works.
