What’s Up with the Weather Duluth?

Saturday, June 3rd, 2017

So typically May in Duluth is really warm. Picture finals week: a bunch of freshman tanning up on the penthouse (they’ve probably dragged the couches out too), upperclassman laying on the Science Lawn studying, etc. Then June is normally like April again. However since I’ve been in Duluth, it has been SUN SUN SUN.  I am SO happy. Normally, it doesn’t get this hot until July. I even packed tons of sweaters to last through June! What does this mean for me? More days reading at the Lakewalk of course!

May 1st!

Monday, May 1st, 2017

It’s snowing. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love snow… But there comes a point where I don’t want to see it for three months straight unless I go on a vacation to the arctic. I don’t want to see it on May 1st. It’s not a lot. The picture hardly shows the white flecks, but still, it’s May 1st!!!!! Oh Duluth, you are a crazy city.

Today I woke up for my 3rd to last day of student teaching and I had a text from my cooperating teacher: No school today.

Disc Golf

Monday, March 20th, 2017

Duluth welcomed all the college students back with some beautiful weather! I absolutely had to get outside to enjoy it and disc golf was the obvious solution. There was only one problem: it snowed last week. Snow + Sun = Mud. We decided against playing all nine holes due to our mud caked fingers but it was still nice to get outside for a little bit.

The Many Faces of Duluth Weather

Sunday, February 19th, 2017

Yesterday I had the plans of going to the Lakewalk by myself just to get some fresh air and enjoy nature. It was so beautiful out, how could I not? Unfortunately, I didn’t wear good shoes for slush and traffic was really backed up in Canal. Today was attempt 2! I asked my friend Katharine to join me at the Rose Garden because she lives so close, and she said yes! I drove to the Rose Garden around 5 and when I stepped outside all I thought was “BRR”. The wind was so harsh I gave up and put a coat and mittens on. We walked all the way to Fitgers and back though, triumphantly against the cold sea air *pause for dramatic effect*. It was a good time but I was excited to go back to my apartment and curl up with a bowl of wild rice soup.
