WellU at Student Activities Fair

Thursday, September 14th, 2017

Many clubs and organizations on campus converge each year at the Student Activities Fair to recruit “new blood”, get more contacts, distribute candy, spread awareness about causes, advertise events and much more! The Fair is held in the Benedictine Commons and and attracts a lot of students seeking to be involved on campus and beyond. Yesterday I went to the Fair, primarily to share about WellU programs and events as well as get more people to know about wellness and health resources available on campus.

Crochet and Knit Club

Wednesday, October 12th, 2016

Tonight we had our second Crochet and Knit Club meeting of the year. We had a huge group our first meeting, but found ourselves with a much smaller amount this meeting. New clubs can be difficult to keep afloat because we need to constantly being drawing in people and presenting a club that makes people want to come back. A lot of clubs have been established in the school for a while now, so they have rapport with the students and there’s enough past student to build stories from. I have to start a new marketing scheme for the club and develop more activities for the meetings if I want to keep us afloat.

First Crochet & Knit Club Meeting

Wednesday, September 28th, 2016

Tonight was the first Crochet & Knit Club meetng of the year! I’m the V.P. and last year honestly we had a pretty small turnout. This year however, holy crap, we had so many people come! We’ve actually given out so much yarn that we need to go buy more. We started off the night with some pumping music while everyone came in. Everyone grabbed some candy and introduced themselves and said what childhood toy they would be. After explaining the basis of the club, we broke into knitters and crocheters and the President and I taught the separate groups how to get started! My crocheters are slowly getting the hang of it, but by the next meeting they’ll be halfway done with their scarves I bet!

Student Activities Fair!

Wednesday, September 21st, 2016

Today the Benedictine Commons was all pomp and fanfare from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM due to the Student Activities Fair going on. Lots of clubs, organizations, and student groups on campus had representatives on site giving information on what they do and recruiting more students to join. I went over to several of my former clubs and mostly to check on fellow club members who were manning the booths. I also got some candy – which is always good considering it’s free!

Activities Fair

Wednesday, September 21st, 2016

Today we had our annual Campus Activities Fair! At the beginning of every school year, all the clubs set up their own booths and table for their club, introducing all the freshman and unsuspecting bystanders to the clubs. If you are in a club, they usually send out emails a month or so ahead of time asking if anyone would like to table.  Tabling literally means sitting at the table for the club, then answering questions and advertising. I tabled for my own club, Crochet & Knit Club. We handed out candy and little sassy meme cards with our meeting times on them. When people came up to the table for more information, we had them sign up on a email list and like us on Facebook. We had a huge group on our list, so I’m hoping our meeting has a big turn out too.
