May 1st!

Monday, May 1st, 2017

It’s snowing. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love snow… But there comes a point where I don’t want to see it for three months straight unless I go on a vacation to the arctic. I don’t want to see it on May 1st. It’s not a lot. The picture hardly shows the white flecks, but still, it’s May 1st!!!!! Oh Duluth, you are a crazy city.

Snow in April!!

Thursday, April 20th, 2017

Today I woke up and it was snowing! It was snowing in April, April 20th to be exact. One of the great things about CSS is the location. Duluth is a beautiful city but the winters can be hard and long. Sometimes even extending into May.

Disc Golf

Monday, March 20th, 2017

Duluth welcomed all the college students back with some beautiful weather! I absolutely had to get outside to enjoy it and disc golf was the obvious solution. There was only one problem: it snowed last week. Snow + Sun = Mud. We decided against playing all nine holes due to our mud caked fingers but it was still nice to get outside for a little bit.

Fresh Coat of Snow

Tuesday, February 28th, 2017

There’s a fresh coat of snow over campus today! As lovely as it’s been to have the warm weather, that’s also meant a lot of mud and slush. All this fluffy, white stuff however is just the stuff we need for skiing, snowman building, and angel making. In addition to all the fun activities, it sure makes the giant pines on campus look beautiful. Last time we had this good of a snow I built a 7ft tall snowman with some friends. Maybe this weekend we will go for 8ft!

Spirit Mountain

Wednesday, January 25th, 2017

Spirit Mountain is an awesome place to hang out in the chilly winter months. Spirit Mountain is most well-known as a ski hill, but there is also snowboarding, Nordic skiing, mountain biking, camping,  and tubing. I am a downhill skier and I love the variety in scenery and difficulty on the hills at Spirit. I have even tried out the mini trick-park rails and jumps, although not very successfully. They also host tons of events including the X-Games and the Frosted Fatty. Inside the lodge there are cheap concession stands as well as fine dining. Thursday night is college night, with discounts on lift tickets, equipment rental, lessons, food, and drinks when you present your student ID. I’m excited to be hitting the slopes again soon.
