It is no secret that education is expensive. The majority of students graduate with some amount of loan debt. However, the College of St. Scholastica offers a surplus of scholarship opportunities and grants to assist students with the cost of college. Financial Aid is also a part of student services provided OneStop. The individuals in this department are fantastic at answering questions and providing resources to all of your financial questions.

Student Loan Reminder

I recently opened up my quarterly federal student loan statement and it may or may not have made me sick to my stomach. Often times, students will take out loans to pay for their tuition and living expenses, but not check the status of these loans until it is time to start paying for them. Obviously, school today is much more expensive and going to a private school may require taking out some amount of student loans. It is essential to understand what kind of loans you are taking out, as some accrue interest while you are in school and some do not. It would be wise to sit down with a financial advisor or give OneStop a call to discuss your loan options for a better understanding of what you are signing up for.

Busy Monday

I kicked off my week with a busy day. Even though I spent a lot of time doing things that needed to be done, I found some time to have fun and relax also. I went to Perkins up the shore in Duluth this morning with my CSS friend Mel and her boyfriend Cody, then I drove downtown to The Red Herring, where I intern, to make a plan for the summer and check in; I do a lot of my work for The Herring from home. After that, I headed over to campus for a meeting in OneStop to discuss the financial side of my experience abroad at Regents University London for the coming fall [eeeeeek, so exciting!]. I was not planning on working today, but I picked up a shift last minute at Canal Park Brewing Company to help someone out. So, all in all I was fairly busy, but I found the time to enjoy myself throughout the day as well.
