Finding a mentor at CSS!!

Thursday, March 30th, 2017

When I first heard of the Mentor Connection program last year, I was quite skeptical and put off submitting my application until sometime in early May. I heard nothing back until the Fall semester started and I was paired with a mentor. This opportunity has taught me a lot about networking and how to build a professional relationship. It is quite hard to meet someone and immediately start sharing your story, but I did that and now I am even closer to my mentor, who is a Vice President of Product Engineering at a local tech company based in California. 2 days ago, I attended an event and my mentor was there and even helped me to connect with two more professionals who work in the area! Leave a comment below if you want to find out more about this program and possibly take part in it!

Networking at Greysolon Ballroom

This past Tuesday I attended a POSH networking event organized by the Duluth Chamber of Commerce and several partners. I attended as part of the Mentor Connection program I joined on campus this Fall. This program seeks to connect students with professionals in the Duluth area in the hopes of retaining local talent and expertise. There are students from UMD in the program as well.
