Free Chipotle

Thursday, November 3rd, 2016

Yesterday, the Latinx Student Union (LSU) hosted their second event of the week. The purpose of the event was to teach the members of the student community a couple of words or sentences in Spanish, the language often spoken by the Latino community. Members of the club created posters of Spanish games where the students were required to visit all five stations to earn themselves a free burrito and chips from Chipotle. The games consisted of matching pictures with Spanish words, filling in the blank, and a competitive one where two students were told of a word in English and had to slap the word in Spanish with a fly swatter. Overall, it was a great turn out and very fun. I can assure you, as a college student, any event where free food is offered will always be great.14962865_739484772859288_2063145142_n

LatinX in the House

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2016

The Latinx Student Union Club (LSU) had a successful event last night. Every year, clubs host an entire week throughout the year of events to either advocate or teach members of the community the purpose of the mission each club wishes to  accomplish. LSU has been working hard to make this week the best week the club has ever hosted. Yesterday, we presented Dia de Los Muertos which is a Mexican Holiday celebrated throughout Central America. It is a day to celebrate the death of family members, community members or strangers. In order to increase participation, the club provided materials to create candy skulls. It was an educational yet fun event which was a great Kickstarter14923975_738882272919538_702674039_o to the week.
