New London Cafe

Monday, June 26th, 2017

Entering my 7th year up in Duluth and I am still finding new restaurants I’ve never been to. I guess this time around my girlfriend technically found it. She took me to the New London Cafe for breakfast last Wednesday for my birthday. We were very impressed with the service, atmosphere, and most of all the food.

Duluth Farmer’s Market

Thursday, June 1st, 2017

Stopped into the Duluth Farmer’s Market yesterday to see what it was all about! We meandered up and down the long red barn checking out different stands that showcased their farm’s own vegetables, plants, syrups, cheeses, honeys, jewelry, paintings, etc. It was a really neat atmosphere where everyone was very friendly, offering samples and asking if we had any questions. As you can see from the photo below, the Duluth Farmer’s Market is located at 14th Ave. East & 3rd St. and is open Saturday’s 7AM-Noon and Wednesday’s 2pm-6pm. Go check out the market during one of those times to eat healthy, fresh, and local!

Summer Green Thumb

Tuesday, May 30th, 2017

My girlfriend and I recently stopped by Cummings Greenhouse, located on W Arrowhead rd. in Duluth, to pick up some vegetables for the summer. We decided on tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, basil, and cilantro. We tried cucumbers, peppers, and green beans last year but they became challenging with out limited space. It is fun to tend to a garden and have a little bit of responsibility of watering and tending to the vegetables throughout the summer. We also thoroughly enjoy when we can harvest our veggies and incorporate them into our meals.

Lunch-time Hot Spot

Tuesday, May 9th, 2017

Toasty’s hasn’t been in Duluth for very long but it’s definitely grown to be a hot-spot for an afternoon meal. After a long morning of taking photos for my Pre-Raphaelite final, Shayna and I headed over to Toasty’s, Duluth’s resident gourmet grilled cheese restaurant. I always go for the usual, the Fast Break on wheat and DELICIOUS blueberry fritters for dessert. The environment is super chill and the food is great. I would definitely recommend this location for a study break or date night.

Mt. Royal Fine Foods Salad Bar

Sunday, May 7th, 2017

I was looking for a little study break yesterday and wanted to grab a healthy bite to eat because healthy food = much needed brain power for finals. I had heard a few classmates mention the salad bar at Mt. Royal Fine Foods located less than a mile from the new Health Science Center on Woodland Ave. I decided to check it out for myself and was very pleased. In addition to my salad, I also added a cup of chicken and wild rice soup! That being said, if you are looking to grab a quick healthy bite to eat, give Mt. Royal Fine Food’s salad bar a try! I think you will be impressed!
