Ice Skating in Duluth

Thursday, December 6th, 2018

Tis the ice skating season here in Duluth! I have always loved ice skating, so coming to Scholastica was the right decision when it comes to that winter fun. There are rinks everywhere, both hockey and pleasure rinks. This year I have made it to Duluth Heights rink and Lower Chester rink. Both have hockey and pleasure rinks at them for people to skate. Last night, my roommates and I went over to the Bagley Nature Center pond at UMD to skate and it was so fun, besides having to shovel the spot we wanted to skate. Ice skating is always a good time though. So have fun and visit all the rinks in Duluth!

Wondering around the Miller Hill Mall yesterday, I discovered a store that let me escape to a different world. I was essentially at the Mall to check out Old Navy and buy a pair of running or cross-fit training shoes. However, I had to make my way to Victoria’s Secret and get my hands on some of those elegant designs. Well, you can imagine after all that running around and mental work, I need to refuel before I did anything else. So I made my way to grab a snack…got a footlong sub and ate half only to find one of the treasures of Duluth (personal opinion).

‘Legal Aspects of Management’

A course I am taking with Prof. Patrick Spott, which was added to the Management curriculum recently, has been a paced learning journey. A few topics the course covers include – ‘courts and jurisdiction’, ‘criminal law’, ‘intellectual property and cyber piracy’, ‘genuineness of assent and statute frauds’, ‘ bankruptcy and reorganization’, ‘agency’. The course is structured with five non-cumulative exams worth 35 points. Here’s what struck me about the course, the mandate ‘Business Owner interview’ and the ‘Courtroom project’.
