Candle Light Ski, Skate & Snowshoe @ Hartley Park

This has been my favorite event this winter so far! Hartley Nature Center hosted a Candle Light Ski, Skate, and Snowshoe night. It started at 4 and went until 7 pm. It cost $10 a person and included Bent Paddle beer tasting, a light dinner from New Scenic Cafe, and included free ski, snowshoe and fat tire bike rental. They also had a yurt to warm up in, complete with a wood burning stove, cookies and cider. It was a blast! My boyfriend, Thomas, and I decided to go with snowshoeing and we got a nature guided tour where animal tracks were pointed out to us, and we got to learn about the history of the Hartley Nature Center and all the animal inhabitants of the park. We wish we had more time because we ran out of time to try the cross country skis on the candle lit trail and the fat tire bikes. There are quite a few parks in the Duluth area that host events like this throughout the winter season and I HIGHLY recommend it! We found out about it on FaceBook events page, so keep your eye on that!
