    Jesse's Bio:
I graduated in 2015 with a B.S. in Exercise Physiology and am now in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program here at CSS. I played on the baseball team at CSS for four years. I was also a statistics tutor and currently work as personal care assistant in Duluth. I love the outdoors, hunting fishing, hiking, etc. While being at St. Scholastica I have noticed the “family” atmosphere and I am truly enjoying every second of it.

SHT Adventure

My freshman thru senior year roommate, Brody O, and I recently went on a Superior Hiking Trail (SHT) adventure beginning in Silver Bay and continuing on to Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center, about 2 miles north of Highway 1 on the SHT. We wanted to get up to George H. Manitou Crosby State Park, but due to the difficult terrain, 50lb backpacks, and a close to depleted water supply with no refills we decided to halt the trip prematurely. It was an awesome trip, regardless and we learned quite a bit as we traversed the SHT.

Thankfully, you don’t have to head up to Silver Bay to jump on the SHT because it goes right through Duluth! It passes through places like Spirit Mountain, Brewer Park, Piedmont, Enger Park, the Lake Walk, Rose Garden, Chester Bowl, Hartley Park, etc. So if you are looking for just a small glimpse of what the SHT has to offer be sure to get out and jump on the trail in Duluth.

My good pal Brody O and I taking a pre-hike photo before jumping on the SHT at Penn Blvd trail head in Silver Bay.

Johnson Lake overlook just north of Highway 1 near the Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center.

Taking a quick rest stop atop Mt. Trudee, which overlooks Lake Superior.

This was my view after waking up the first morning in my hammock set-up overlooking Bear Lake.
