Last night, we had a guide meeting for Outdoor Pursuit where we discussed many things that are coming up for us. We spent a majority of the time discussing next year’s SOAR program: who would be leading what trip and the steps we should take for planning our trips.

As a freshman, I went on a SOAR trip, which is part of the August Adventures for incoming students. I spent my first week at the College of St. Scholastica kayaking in the Apostle Islands with others who would become my fellow classmates. It was an amazing experience. I met new friends and developed a deepened love for the outdoors.

Freshman Year – SOAR 2013

I was inspired by my SOAR trip to become a student guide for the Outdoor Pursuit program. After spending my freshman year going on numerous OP! trips and training to be a guide, I had the opportunity to lead the same SOAR kayaking trip I was a part of freshman year. It is very neat being a part of the program that helped me find my place at CSS and being able to help give others a similar opportunity.
