    Emily's Bio:
I am a senior majoring in communication and minoring in photography. The College of St. Scholastica has been a great place for me to be throughout my college journey. I am fascinated by the world and am currently studying abroad at Regent's University London in England. I live for the little things and the adventures I stumble upon everyday. In my free time I enjoy practicing yoga, listening to and writing music, taking pictures, and exploring.

First SOAR Trip of the Season

Between yesterday and today, my Outdoor Pursuit co-guides and myself welcomed thirteen new St. Scholastica freshmen to campus. We will be taking the group of thirteen out on the first SOAR sea kayaking trip of this year.

We spent this afternoon training on Pike Lake for our launch onto Lake Superior tomorrow. Each participant learned some kayaking skills and got to practice them while we were on the water. Tomorrow we will drive along the South Shore of Lake Superior to the Bayfield, Wisconsin area. From there, we will be kayaking the vast waters and camping on the Apostle Islands.

This will be my eighth trip, I think, paddling the islands now with St. Scholastica. It has been an incredible journey from being a freshmen on this very trip two years ago to where I am now as a guide going in to my fifth sea kayaking trip as an OP! Leader. I am fully thankful to be part of this wonderful program. I am looking forward to the week on the water and giving these individuals the chance to explore the islands, meet new friends, and get ready for college.
