    Courtney's Bio:
I'm an Elementary Education major at CSS. I also plan to minor in Spanish. Having done PSEO, I came to CSS with more than 60 credits. I'm part of Volunteers Involved Through Action (VITA), Students Today Leaders Forever (STLF), and other clubs! Dance has been part of my life for 10 years, and now I'm trying to fit it into my schedule again. I love spending time watching Supernatural and Once Upon a Time, and reading Harry Potter and other great books. I live in a suite with 3 other girls, and we are always finding something fun to do around campus!

Setting up Murals at the Prove

I took a nice break from student teaching prep tonight and I went with my fellow A.R.T. Club members to work on our mural project. In case you haven’t heard, the Art Department and A.R.T. Club are all working on this big mural – I lied, two big murals – for Safe Haven and Harbor City International School. We will be collaborating with people from those communities to create giant murals. When I say giant, I really mean it, both are way bigger than last year’s mural for Laura MacArthur. So anyway, I carpooled with some people down to Prove Gallery because we currently have that entire space to work on the murals this month! Tonight was a lot of prepping still, we had to still put gesso onto the canvases. Because the canvases are so big and uniquely shaped, we had to make them ourselves! So my art professor had to by wood, people had to put wood together, staple canvas onto it, etc. Gesso is the white stuff that makes a canvas primed for painting. That’s all we put on canvases for a solid hour! Each canvas needs multiple coats, so I’m not sure when we’ll even begin the actual painting. All I know is I am excited!
